The International and Corporate Affairs Division was established following the incorporation of the Department of Cooperative Development (JPK) into the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM), a Federal Statutory Body that officially began operations on 1 January 2008. This division, commonly known as HEKA, is placed under the Office of the Executive Chairman of SKM. The division comprises three main units:

i. Special Duties and Board Affairs Unit
ii. Corporate Communication Unit
iii. International Affairs Unit

HEKA is responsible for ensuring that all matters related to the corporate affairs of SKM as a Federal Statutory Body are carried out accordingly. This includes compliance with statutory obligations, such as the appointment of SKM Board Members and the convening of Board Meetings to decide on policies and strategic directions. HEKA also serves as the focal point for disseminating SKM’s official information via mass media, the official portal, and social media. In addition, HEKA handles public and agency complaints, coordinates international programs involving SKM or the cooperative sector, and collaborates with international entities such as the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) or other regulators to support the growth of Malaysia’s cooperative sector.

• Managing Board affairs in accordance with the provisions of the SKM Act 2007;
• Organizing SKM Board of Directors meetings as stipulated in the SKM Act 2007 and SKM By-Laws;
• Preparing SKM’s Annual Report as required by Federal Statutory Bodies;
