The Cooperative Member Well-being Index (IKGM) is one of the initiatives developed by the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM) with the aim of monitoring the well-being progress of the cooperative movement in Malaysia. The publication of IKGM is based on the importance of establishing a ‘benchmark’ for managing the development of cooperative members in terms of their overall well-being. This is particularly important to assist the Government in identifying the impact of socio-economic programmes that have been implemented. The indicators provided by IKGM are highly significant and serve as key inputs for the Government in planning and mapping the direction of socio-economic programmes for the people through the cooperative movement.
