Open data refers to information that can be freely used, shared, and reused by the public as well as public or private sector agencies. The implementation of the Government Open Data initiative aims to enhance the quality and transparency of public service delivery concerning government information. It also serves as one of the global evaluation criteria for e-Government services. The Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM) has taken steps to identify data sets for the implementation of open data across all departmental service areas.
