Introduction
The Corporate and International Affairs Division is a division that was created when the Co-operative Development Department (JPK) was incorporated into the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM), a Federal Statutory body which officially began operations on 1 January 2008. This division, known as HEKA in short is under the purview of SKM Executive Chairman’s Office.

The Corporate Affairs Division is divided into three units namely;

  1. Special Tasks and Board Affairs Unit
  2. Corporate Communications Unit
  3. International Unit
Objectives
HEKA is responsible for ensuring the implementation of matters related to the corporate affairs of SKM as a Federal Statutory Body. Among the compliance as a Federal Statutory Body is the appointment of SKM Board of Directors and hold Board meetings to decide on matters involving the policies of SKM. 
HEKA is also the focal point in channeling official SKM information either via mass media, official portal or social media. In addition HEKA is responsible for managing complaints of the public as well as agency. 
HEKA is involved in coordinating any programme to go abroad, whether it involves SKM or the co-operatives sector. Cooperating with any parties abroad such as ICA or as regulators in any programme that can provide benefits to the co-operatives sector in Malaysia.
Functions
  • ● To manage the affairs of SKM Board of Directors as in the resolution of SKM Act 2007;
  • ● To hold the SKM Board of Directors Meeting as in the resolution of SKM Act 2007 and SKM Bylaws;
  • ● To prepare the Annual Report of SKM as required for all Federal Statutory Bodies;
  • ● To channel official SKM information via mass media, official portal and social media as well as managing complaints of the public as well as agency;
  • ● To coordinate official programmes abroad that involve SKM or the co-operatives sector;
  • ● To cooperate with parties abroad such as ICA or as regulators in any programme that can provide benefits to the co-operatives sector in Malaysia;
  • ● To manage the publicity of SKM with the media; and;
  • ● To establish good relationships with stakeholders (Ministries, Government Agencies, media partners and the public) in efforts to maintain the image of SKM.
